VSTORE will work, but it will also verify the tape and this could take quite some time – like as long as it took to create the tape in the first place. The LISTDIR option of RESTORE can be used to display tape contents and creation date, as well as the STORE command used to create the tape in a fraction of the time a VSTORE takes.
