3.15 My DTC temporarily lost communication with my HP3000. Communication has been restored but a printer attached to the DTC that was active when communications went down is no longer working. I've power cycled the printer and tried all the options for the SPOOLER and SPOOLF commands I know to no avail. The spool file printing when communications went down still shows active and will not clear, delete, defer, etc. What can I do? I do not want to have to reboot the HP3000.

If using host-based DTC management , try:

:SYSDIAG

SYSDIAG> TERMDSM

TERMDSM> RESET

LDEV nnn

If using Openview DTC Manager, you can reset the ldev from the DTC Manager console.

In either case, you will likely need to again :STARTSPOOL nnn to get the printer going.

If this still does not work, you will probably have to sacrifice the "hung" spool file. Here are the steps I go through:

"spoolf ;delete" the hung spoolfile

issue a "stopspool" on the classname

issue at least three (yes three) "abortio" commands on the ldev

pause 10 seconds after the last "abortio"

issue a startspool on the classname

If it still does not work, I'd force a download to the DTC and go through the above steps again if necessary.

If all these things fail then I would suspect a hardware problem at the DTC - ports do go bad occasionally.
