3.6 Somewhat randomly, we get a handful of heartbeat losses, carrier losses and transmit errors (same number of each). For example, sometime this morning we got hit with 55 in a short period of time (out of about 3,000,000 transmits and receives without error). We can easily go for days without seeing any more. And then we will see another handful. They do not seem to cause any problems, but still ... Our other three machines never show any of these.

We replaced the MIO card some months ago for a different reason, but it seemed to have no effect on these occasional glitches. My thought is to replace the transceiver because we see no other problems anywhere on our network. The question is what are my chances of successfully doing this hot? My head tells me my chances should be really good, especially if I do it during a relatively quiet period. However, my gut tells me this is too good to be true. Has anyone out there successfully swapped transceivers hot?

Many people reported success doing just this. And, to solve the exact same problem

This problem is different from the one where you are flooded with heartbeat losses - usually meaning a transceiver on a DTC or at the host does not have SQE Test enabled.
