                          LEARNING THE NAMES

     The people who make and run the computers have already
     given names to almost all of the devices you'll ever use.

                     SOME NAMES OCCUR FAIRLY OFTEN

     LP     --> a line printer
     LDEV --> a "logical device", usually with a number added on
                -->> it could be a terminal -- mine is called LDEV26
                -->>  it could be a tape drive -- it's known as LDEV7
                -->> it could be a printer -- one is called LDEV6

     These are probably the most useful ones to know in the
     beginning. There are others. It's even possible that your
     computer operator has assigned new names to the devices
     called LP and LDEV. Maybe...or maybe not.

     But if they have, don't let that bother you. Just learn the
     names that are being used. Ask your operator or the people
     you know who are using the same computer.
